Raku is a Low Temperature fast firing process that yields exciting, chance surface effects on ceramic ware. The Western method differs from the Japanese in that the ware is subjected to a post firing in a combustible material (e.g. sawdust) in a reduction chamber.

The ware is porous and should not be used for food.
