Danica Wichtermann is a ceramic artist based in the Perth Hills, drawing inspiration from the native flora and quiet bushland that surrounds her. Working primarily on the pottery wheel, she transforms simple mounds of clay into vessels rich with carved detail. Each piece becomes a canvas for line work, botanical textures, and carefully applied glazes that bring depth, contrast, and story to the surface.
Danica holds a Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Curtin University. Alongside her work as a high school teacher, she runs Rediscover Ceramics, creating limited collections and teaching workshops from her home studio. Her ceramics have been recognised through multiple awards, shown in exhibitions across Western Australia, and collected by galleries and private collectors both locally and abroad.
A continuing thread in her practice is the fragility of Western Australia’s native flora. Many of her pieces highlight endangered or threatened species, inviting the viewer to pause, look closely, and reconnect with the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world.
