Continuum

Exhibition at Noosa Regional Gallery
July 2026

Danica Wichtermann has been selected to exhibit in Continuum, a national members exhibition presented by the The Australian Ceramics Association in partnership with Noosa Regional Gallery.

The exhibition brings together ninety ceramic artists from across Australia, reflecting the depth and diversity of contemporary ceramics practice.

The title Continuum refers to the idea of connection across time — a spectrum of knowledge, practice and influence that links makers across generations. Ceramics today is shaped by teachers, mentors, peers and the accumulated knowledge of craftspeople and artists working with clay for thousands of years. Within this field, emerging and established makers sit side by side, contributing to an ongoing dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression.

The exhibition highlights the strength of Australia’s ceramics community while offering selected artists the opportunity to exhibit, promote and sell recent work.

Featured Work

Whispers of the Wild – Where the Red Tails Roam

For this exhibition Danica presents Whispers of the Wild – Where the Red Tails Roam, a wheel-thrown porcelain vessel exploring ecological continuity through native species and landscape.

The work depicts a male and female Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo alongside the native food sources that sustain them — gum nuts, banksia and flowering eucalyptus. These elements form a living continuum between bird, tree and land, shaped through centuries of interdependence.

Through wheel-thrown porcelain, carving and layered surface inlay, the piece reflects cycles of nourishment, care and transmission across generations. As habitats diminish, this continuity becomes increasingly fragile. The work stands as both a record and a reminder of what must endure if these ancient ecological relationships are to continue.

Danica’s ceramic practice explores Australian flora and fauna through detailed carved porcelain surfaces, drawing attention to the quiet interconnections that shape ecosystems and cultural memory.
