About Danica’s Work

With a deep passion for the natural world, Danica’s porcelain vessels highlight Australia’s native flora and fauna, with a particular focus on threatened species. Her Whispers of the Wild — Where the Red Tails Roam and Guardians of the Canopy series honours the endangered Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo and its native food sources — gum nuts, banksia, and flowering eucalyptus.

Using Southern Ice porcelain, Danica wheel-throws and hand-carves each vessel, layering impressions of seeds and blooms with sgraffito and underglaze techniques. These tactile surfaces evoke the fragile beauty of bushland and invite reflection on its preservation. The vessels can be displayed individually or grouped to mimic the cockatoos’ flocking behavior in the treetops, adaptable to gallery spaces both intimate and expansive.
