Perfect for all skill levels—whether you're a beginner or have some clay experience—this class will guide you through both basic and advanced carving techniques. Under the expert guidance of Danica, you'll hand-build your pieces using high-quality stoneware clay and explore various techniques for creating striking designs.
What to Expect:
Clay Hand-Building & Design: Learn how to shape and mould your plate and mini dish by hand. Choose from nature-inspired motifs like leaves or feathers, or explore your own creative designs using provided templates.
Sgraffito Carving Technique: After shaping your pieces, you’ll apply colourful underglazes and carve back into the design to create beautiful, engraved patterns that will give your plate a truly one-of-a-kind look.
Creative Process: Danica will demonstrate various carving techniques, offering personalised guidance to help you create a visually impactful design. The workshop offers a mix of organic and linear patterns, giving you plenty of room for creativity.
Make More Than One Piece: In addition to your main plate, you’ll also create a mini side plate or nibble dish and a small set of pinch pots. Learn how to make your own carving tools and discover which ones are best for achieving different effects.
