Join Danica from Rediscover Ceramics for two relaxed 45-minute mini clay workshops as part of Kalamunda Open Studios.
These hands-on sessions are designed to introduce simple handbuilding techniques using your hands, basic pottery tools and a little imagination. They are suitable for children aged 5+, with adults and teens and adults are also welcome.
Saturday 10 October | 10am
Mini Clay Creatures
Come along and make your own little clay creature. Experiment with simple handbuilding techniques, shapes and textures to create a small character of your own.
Sunday 11 October | 10am
Mini Pinch Pots
Learn the basics of making a pinch pot using your hands and a small piece of clay. Shape your own little vessel and explore how a simple ball of clay can become a bowl, cup or other small form.
No previous/upcoming-events experience is needed.
Cost: $10 per person
Duration: 45 minutes

These workshops are part of Kalamunda Open Studios, with the Rediscover Ceramics studio open to visitors across the weekend from 10am–5pm.

Come and get your hands dirty at this relaxed 45-minute mini clay workshop at Rediscover Ceramics, as part of Kalamunda Open Studios.
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn simple handbuilding techniques and use your hands, basic pottery tools and natural textures to create your own mini clay creature.
There are no rules about what your creature should look like. Bring your imagination and see what you can create from a small piece of clay.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 5+, with teens and adults also welcome. No previous experience is required.
Please note: This is a short introductory workshop.
Optional firing add-on:
Approx $5 per item, includes firing and a green copper wash glaze
Payable on the day
Alternatively, pieces can be taken home to air dry. Air-dried work will be fragile and not waterproof, but can be sealed with a clear sealer or painted at home. Items will not be food or water safe unless professionally fired.

In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the basics of pinch pot handbuilding and use your hands, simple pottery tools and natural textures to create your own small clay vessel.
Starting with a simple ball of clay, you’ll learn how to pinch, shape and refine your pot. You can create a small bowl, cup or other little vessel, adding your own textures and details along the way.
This workshop is suitable for children aged 5+, with teens and adults also welcome. No previous experience is required.
